IN-PERSON: Yoga Nidra: The Ancient Science of Transcendent Relaxation with Rod Stryker

  • 12401 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90049 (map)

A workshop that will nurture and inform you. Suitable for all levels from beginners to experienced practitioners as well as teachers. Rod has been teaching Yoga Nidra for almost 30 years and was one of the first Americans to teach it in the West. He leads Yoga Nidra trainings around the globe and has written
extensively on the subject.

Yoga Nidra may be one of the most important practices for the times we live in. The term refers to both a practice and a state where through deep, dreamless sleep you enter the heights of meditative experience. The wonder of it is its accessibility. Anyone can do it and the practice requires little preparation. If you can be still lying or sitting, you can practice Yoga Nidra.
On the surface, Yoga Nidra seems identical to complete relaxation (savasana)––where one soaks in complete physiological and mental renewal. Yet, these healing benefits are only the first of four plateaus of the practice which one can learn to enter.
Experience and learn how Yoga Nidra includes and then goes far beyond just rest or good sleep, and how it can evolve to be more about awakening––why it can rightfully be called “Enlightened Sleep.”

In this workshop, Rod will lead three different practices and share theory related to its deeper states and how we enter them.
Some of the themes he’ll address:
 The four levels of Yoga Nidra
 Why the practice is so beneficial for practically everyone
 The 4 plateaus of practice: homeostasis, resilience, coherence, and enstasy
 Stages of sleep
 Brief history of Yoga Nidra
